Investors In People UK Chairman Presents Award
Investors in People UK Chairman Visits Somerset To Make Award To One Of The South West's Leading Digital Agencies
Iconography Ltd, one of the South West’s leading digital agencies producing contemporary web design, multimedia and e-marketing services, celebrated a special occasion on Thursday 6th October when the Chairman of Investors in People UK, Tim Melville-Ross , travelled from Londonto present the Investor in People Award to the company.
The company, which has grown steadily since 1997 when two of the current directors Ray Buckler and Mike Redwood turned the business into a limited company, was recently told of its successful assessment by the IiP’s Quality Centre South West and is especially delighted that Tim Melville-Ross himself was available to make the award personally.
Tim, who is a past Director General of the Institute of Directors (1994-1999) and holds a mix of non-executive directorships in a number of UK companies, was instrumental in setting up an investment club to help small entrepreneurs become established. Katalyst Ventures, which has developed from this initiative, was set up in 1999 and now has over 100 individual shareholders who provide growth funds by investing in individually selected companies. Anthony Collinson, chairman of Katalyst Ventures, is himself an investor in, and chairman of, Iconography.
The award of Investor in People is seen by Iconography as recognition of its work over the past year to introduce changes in its management practices. Fiona Madge, the company’s Sales Director who has been largely responsible for seeing the IiP project through, explained, “It became obvious some time ago that our growth was placing new pressures on our management and staff which we needed to address. With advice from Business Link we embarked on the IiP programme as this seemed an ideal way to meet these challenges. We have seen major benefits to the company from new procedures we have introduced and a transformation in our management style and the value we place on well trained and motivated staff. Examples of the changes we have made include the introduction of staff appraisals, regular training days and the ability to develop and embrace a new forward vision for the business which we firmly believe will enable us to improve our level of service to customers as well as achieve strong growth in our turnover”.
Ray Buckler, Iconography’s Creative Director, is delighted with the external recognition the IiP award represents and added, “IiP recognition will be a further boost to our diversification plans and will provide potential clients with added confidence in knowing that we can demonstrate both organisational maturity and management dependability. This will be equally as important to our existing clients as our growing list of major corporates. We are developing new business on a global basis where external accreditations are particularly important demonstrations of our professionalism. I believe this will be particularly important for one of our newer developments, IVOR. This highly flexible and adaptable digital content manager, which has already changed the way multinational businesses like Timberland have approached training, promotion and brand advocacy, is set to move corporate communications well beyond what is currently available from proprietary presentation content management products such as Microsoft Powerpointâ¢.”
Tim Melville-Ross congratulated the company when making the award at Iconography’s offices in Crewkerne. “In my role as chairman of Investors in People UK I am committed to encouraging as many organisations as possible, whether in the pubic or private sector, to achieve the necessary standards to achieve IiP recognition and I am delighted that Iconography has become an example to others in the rapidly developing digital multimedia industry. I would like to congratulate the staff as well as the management team for showing the strength of purpose to undertake the work required to achieve IiP accreditation during a time of rapid change for the business. I wish them all success for the future and look forward to hearing more about their expansion into global markets in the years ahead.”
