Even in self isolation, you can keep your eCommerce website working
Take action now to keep your website functioning and healthy.
Over the last few days, the Corona virus has posed many unnerving challenges for retailers, both in store and online. With temporary closures being enforced and disruptions to courier services, it’s essential you take action now to ensure your website is robust. For some, it could be an imperative source of income and the key to keeping you afloat over the coming months.
With that being said, if there is one thing us Brits are known for, it’s our ability to keep going when things get a little bumpy (or in recent times, infectious). Below are just a handful of innovative ways that you can be utilising your Iconography website. Better still, all can be actioned by you.
If your site is eCommerce, now is the time to adjust your lead-times. By increasing them, even if only by few weeks, it’ll let your customers know you’re still in business and taking orders. It instills confidence and you can always keep your customers in the loop with delivery dates as you learn more. If you are currently unable to sell through your website and would like to, get in touch with your Account Manager, as we can explore this option with you.
Use all your newfound time to finally add those supplier videos you’ve been meaning to upload to your products. They often give customers a new perspective on an item which can lead to sales. But is doesn't stop there. If your customers can’t make it to you, don’t hesitate to pick up the camera and show them what’s new, add videos to blog posts, go live on facebook, or upload them to your instagram.
Be it offering free delivery to encourage more sales temporarily, adding a message to your homepage to inform customers they should expect delays, or offering local drop off where possible, there are plenty of ways to keep sales flowing through the website.
Stay active with your customer base. Offer new incentives to keep them interested in your product offering, like percentage discounts for limited periods. If they get their orders in whilst these promotions are running, they can claim on bigger savings which won't be available at a later date when normalcy creeps back in.
Meta data is what helps search engines to read content on pages. It's crucial, but meta data often falls to the back of the queue. Why not use your free time to give your site an SEO boost. All Iconography websites allow you to edit meta data on all site pages and products. Applying accurate and up to date meta data to your website, is a key stepping stone to bettering your sites SEO and chances of being found in organic online searches. Talk to your Account Manager about how they can make it simpler to apply this data in bulk.
Over the next few weeks we’ll be sending out a course of emails to our active client base, offering alternative methods of driving traffic to your website. We'll be explaining the many benefits of those features, giving advice on how best to utlise them. We will also be offering a series of discounts across these features, during what we understand is a testing time for business owners. If you would like to be kept up to date, but currently don't recive our emails, contact your Account Manager.
*Please note: If you are not able to access your website currently, due to forgotten credentials, because you are working remotely, or simply need some extra support, do not hesitate to contact your Account Manager. They can be contacted through the usual channels.
Don't forget that you can also use the Support Portal.
